About Hima Run

The trail running race calendar for Southeast Asia & China

Our mission

Hima Run exists to make trail and ultra running accessible to everyone in Southeast Asia and Greater China. We believe that finding your next race should be simple, free, and reliable — whether you are planning your first 10K trail or chasing UTMB qualifying points across the region.

Our calendar is the most comprehensive trail racing resource for the region, covering 8 countries with 632 race distances across 219 events — and growing every week.

ITRA-rated

We track trail, ultra, skyrunning, and vertical races across Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Each race listing includes distance, elevation, difficulty rating, entry fees, registration status, ITRA points, UTMB index, and Asia Trail Master series info when available.

How we source our data

Every race on Hima Run goes through a multi-stage data pipeline to ensure accuracy:

  1. Discovery — we scan major race calendars and aggregators (ITRA, Ahotu, Asia Trail Master, RUNLAH, and others) to find new events across the region.
  2. Enrichment — each race is individually verified against its official website. We extract distances, elevation profiles, entry fees, registration links, mandatory gear lists, and logistics details directly from race organizer pages.
  3. Quality assurance — enriched data is validated against the live race website to catch errors and outdated information. Races are re-checked regularly.

We never fabricate data. If a field is not available from the official source, we mark it as "Not available" or "Coming soon" rather than guessing.

Difficulty ratings

Hima Run uses KM-Effort (Kilometre-Effort) to rate race difficulty. This metric combines distance and total elevation gain into a single number that allows meaningful comparison across different courses:

KM-Effort = distance (km) + elevation gain (m) / 100

This formula is consistent with the ITRA and UTMB methodology for calculating equivalent flat-ground distance. A KM-Effort of 80, for example, means the race is roughly as demanding as running 80 km on flat terrain.

Series and qualifiers

We display official qualifier and series data for the three major trail running organizations active in Asia:

  • ITRA (International Trail Running Association) — endurance points and mountain/finisher levels for 412 rated distances.
  • UTMB World Series — index race status and Running Stones for 190 qualifying distances.
  • Asia Trail Master — championship series points and standings.

Free and independent

Hima Run is free to use and will always remain free for runners. We are not affiliated with any race organizer, registration platform, or governing body. Our goal is to be the most trustworthy, comprehensive, and useful trail running resource for the region.
